Breast milk donation after neonatal death in Australia: a report
Lactation and breast milk can hold great value and meaning for grieving mothers who have experienced a recent death of an infant. Donation to a human milk bank (HMB) as an alternative to discarding breast milk is one means of respecting the value of breast milk. There is little research, national policy discussion, or organizational representation in Australia on the subject of breast milk dona...
متن کاملStenotrophomonas maltophilia causing early onset neonatal sepsis.
Stenotrophomonas maltophilia, a multi drug resistant non fermenting Gram negative bacillus is an increasingly common nosocomial pathogen, especially in intensive care units. Comparatively few cases of infection have been reported in neonatal population. We present two cases of early onset neonatal sepsis due to S.maltophilia and a brief review of documented isolation in neonates.
متن کاملPantoea species causing early onset neonatal sepsis: a case report
INTRODUCTION Pantoea agglomerans is a plant pathogen which very rarely causes an opportunistic infection. Human beings are usually infected by thorn prick injuries or by contaminated parenteral fluids. Pantoea agglomerans has been reported as a cause of neonatal sepsis very rarely and to the best of our knowledge this is the first reported case from India. CASE PRESENTATION A 4-day-old Asian ...
متن کاملPrevalence of Multidrug Resistant Bacteria Causing Late-Onset Neonatal Sepsis
ISSN: 2319-7706 Volume 4 Number 5 (2015) pp. 172-190 http://www.ijcmas.com Neonatal sepsis is a leading cause of neonatal mortality in developing countries. Identification of the etiological agents of neonatal sepsis is essential for effective treatment. Out of 106 microbial isolates recovered from blood cultures of late onset neonatal sepsis (LONS) patients, only 70 (66 %) isolates were Gram-p...
متن کاملNeonatal Sepsis: An Update
Sepsis is the most common cause of neonatal mortality. As per National Neonatal-Perinatal Database (NNPD), 2002-2003, the incidence of neonatal sepsis in India was 30 per 1000 live births. Signs and symptoms of sepsis are nonspecific; therefore empirical antimicrobial therapy is promptly initiated after obtaining appropriate cultures. The early manifestations of neonatal sepsis are vague and il...
